For all the nostalgia we feel about cars, automakers themselves rarely look back so far. Today’s engineers want to build vehicles of the future; regulations and customers demand the latest in safety and technology, and most flirtations with “retro” designs turn out not just worst than the original but stale upon arrival. All of which makes Jaguar’s announcement that it will build and sell six E-Type coupes — just as they would have left the factory in 1963 — that much more stunning. No automaker has ever built such time machines for public consumption.

Swedish producer WDL just released a debut five track EP, Legotrap, on TEN/Sony Music. On it, he demonstrates how good he is at throwing down compelling beats and creating gripping soundscapes. Album track Bob’s Feat is a powerful listen, from the very first notes to the last fadeaway, plus its vocals by guest act Mawe and its spoken samples are full of moving, enthralling soul. For an even more dramatic track off WDL’s new EP, stream To The Sound below, a grand, goosebump raising electronic number.
